BLOG: Crafting a Capsule Wardrobe with Grundig

The sun is shining, the weather is sweet, and it’s time for you to get dressed. You pad across your bedroom to your dressing room, and open the cupboard. Dresses, kaftans, suits and shifts all staring back at you, and you’re lost for words.

Sometimes, and especially when it comes to clothing, more choice is not necessarily a good thing.

If you’re anything like the Grundig team, you’ll know that getting ready in the morning is not necessarily a straightforward process, not when there’s what feels like an endless array of options and not enough time to choose what will work for you.

But now, with the global move towards more sustainable fashion comes an exciting opportunity to have your own wardrobe follow suit. Which is why we have focussed our November blog on helping you to create your own Capsule Wardrobe for the summer months.

Step 1: Select a Staple Colour

Selecting your base colour is more important than you think. It sets the tone for the rest of your wardrobe choices and will influence the mood and colour scheme of what you’ll be wearing this season.

While you might go for something like navy, black or brown in the winter months, in Southern Africa, you’re more likely to choose a lighter colour that reflects the heat of the sun rather than absorbs it. We recommend white, peach, beige or cream.

Step 2: Build your Basics

Choose your wardrobe staples. For summer, especially in our more humid climate, this will include your shorter items, such as mini and midi dresses, shorts and skirts, as well as an array of blouses and shirts. Don’t forget your classic white T. Opt for a well-fitting T-shirt that skims your body rather than hugs it. The effect is chic without making you feel like a plastic-wrapped ham sandwich.

Step 3: Choose your Statement Pieces

Now we’re talking pattern. Colour. The dress that makes you feel like a million bucks and the pressed linen suit you can’t live without. These are the pieces that make your wardrobe really sparkle.

Careful, considered curation of your clothing is one way to cut out decision fatigue in the morning, and to help you dress more joyfully and intentionally.

And while you’re crafting your daily uniform (with the bigger splashes for the weekend!), don’t forget that you have Grundig on your side to take care of all the clothing preparation that needs doing. We see our Grundig Washer Dryer being the perfect household accessory to fit your lifestyle.  Buy it here:
