This recipe guides you through the easy process of growing your own wheatgrass at home from whole wheat grains. Wheatgrass is considered a superfood packed with nutrients and antioxidants. It adds a nice, fresh touch to salads, main courses, and drinks, or you can juice it for a powerful shot.

Difficulty:

Easy

Serving:

Preparation time:

4 days

Ingredients:

  • 75 g whole wheat

Preparation:

  • Start by washing and thoroughly draining about 75 g of whole wheat.

  • Thoroughly clean and sterilize the jar that you'll be using for the sprouting process.

  • Submerge the whole wheat in plenty of water inside a jar or jug. Ensure the water level is well above the wheat.

  • Let the wheat soak for at least 4 hours.

  • After soaking, drain the wheat and transfer them to the sprouting jar.

  • Cover the jar and leave it in a cool, dark place for at least 8 hours.

  • At the end of this resting period, wash and drain the wheat again.

  • Replace the cover on the jar and continue this wash and drain cycle once every day for 4 days.

  • After about 4 days, the sprouts should be 1-2 cm long and your fresh wheatgrass is ready.

  • Note: Different seeds and legumes will have varying sprouting times. Always check specific sprouting times for different items.

  • Use the wheatgrass in salads, main dishes, drinks, or even juice them for a shot.

  • Enjoy your homemade wheatgrass and its benefits!
